This is a second edition of what as come to be regarded as the authoritative text of the B-fragments of Anaxagoras, first published in 1981 and out of print for many years.
As before, the main purpose of this work has been to present an improved text and critical apparatus for the direct quotations attributed to Anaxagoras, based largely on a reexamination of the manuscripts of Simplicius’commentary on Aristotle’s Physics. A detailed commentary accompanies the text.
For thi edition, there has been some revision throuighout and the bibliography has been extensively updated. Furthermore, there are now three additional sections in the Introductions : Diagrams, Style and Allegory. In addition to the original index locorum, there is now a general index and one of Anaxagoras’vocabulary.
